Historic Churches & Heritage


Mănăstirea Sfântul Ioan cel Nou

One of Suceava’s most important historic and religious landmarks. Built between 1514 and 1522, the monastery’s Church of St George forms part of the UNESCO-listed Churches of Moldavia. The monastery also houses the relics of St John the New and today serves as the seat of the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuți.

One of Suceava’s oldest and most significant medieval churches. Mirăuți Church served as the former Metropolitan Cathedral of Moldavia and was associated with the anointing of Moldavian rulers. It also housed the relics of St John the New before their transfer in 1589.
